The Secret to Happiness

Justin Davanzo PhotographyI just finished a small project designing business cards for a friend who is an amazing photographer. You can check out his website here, and his blog here. We used the above photo on the back of his cards. I love his work and am so excited about what he has going on! Check him out.

Currently, I am reading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. It’s a funny, honest, and poignant book about the process of writing, but is relevant to any creative endeavor. Highly recommended. For today, I will leave you with this quote:

“Your three-year-old and your work in progress teach you to give. They teach you to get out of yourself and become a person for someone else. This is probably the secret to happiness. Your child and your work hold you hostage, suck you dry, ruin your sleep, mess with your head, treat you like dirt, and then you discover they’ve given you that golden nugget you were looking for all along.”

  1. So much truth there. She is my favorite—an amazing thinker and writer. Thanks for posting that quote. I’m sure it really resonated with you.
